Charterhouse Auctioneers and Valuers – your complete auction and valuation service, based in Sherborne, operating internationally and on-line.

What we do
We hold regular auctions of Antiques, Interiors, Pictures, Books, Ceramics, Beswick, Silver, Gold, Jewellery, Luxury Watches, Wine, Coins, Clocks, Stamps, Militaria, Medals, Collectors’ Items, Sporting Items including hunting, shooting and fishing.

We also hold specialist auctions of Classic and Vintage Cars and Motorcycles Motorcycles, and many other objects of value and interest.

We value items free of charge prior to sale so that you can decide if auction is the right place for you to sell, then items are put in to the most relevant auction. All items are photographed, and then available on the internet, with our overseas audience numbering many thousands every month. When each auction is held, anyone can buy here in our beautiful historic Sherborne auction rooms, over the phone, by emailing or sending bids in, by bidding live on the internet where they can watch and listen to the auction as it happens, or by leaving bids on line.

The reason people sell through us rather than privately is that we reach hundreds of thousands of buyers a year, who compete for items. This has resulted in us selling items for great sums that clients did not realise were of value. For example we have sold a plate from the 16th century for an elderly client who wished to move house, for £565,000. Fortunately for her, when we visited her house for a free valuation our valuer was able to spot its worth, and we held an auction just for this lot.

This has happened in various ways for lots we have found in attics, on the top of wardrobes, even items clients have been thinking of throwing away. What do you have that you would like valued?
